This is because many publishing houses then work with the writer for months or years. The only difference between the solo writers is that they won't have much help from outside sources. There are many ways to publish ones work and asking advice from industry folks is the key to anyone's success. Networking is all about making the right connections with the right people. That being it does take effort and networking needs to be a constant effort. It is important to note though, that networking is an exchange and asking for business advice with anything in return can be easily turned down. Networking is a great opportunity for this. One very important thing I also learned is the importance of keeping track of all startup costs. Many small purchases can seem unimportant but can add up to thousands of dollars. If not accounted for, this can cause future investors to lose interest and loss of revenue.
Scams are still a threat to this day. They can happen in any sector and therefore a one fits all approach is not recommended. Internet searches followed by the word "scam" can guide a person as if a situation can lead to a scam based on experiences by other individuals. The most common are the "too good to be true" scams. The scammer can easily take advantage of a persons need for a new vehicle or a remote job to catch they prey. For that reason really asking ourselves why is this so cheap or why would an employer want to offer such high compensation are good habits. Apart from this, it is also very important to measure our loyalty to our employer. This is a good habit to also have because at times the best interest of the employees is to find other places of employment. Many times the most loyal employees are the most disadvantaged because when employees need to be laid off, they are the first to be let go off. We never want this to happen. Saying "no" can sometimes be daunting, but important. Our bosses are looking for the benefit of their business and themselves, not always for the our benefit. So learning to say "no " can allow an employee to set needed boundaries and therefore they tend to perform better and are happier in their job.

Other things that I learned today include the importance of selling oneself when in a job interview. If we get into the habit of visualizing ourselves as the perfect candidate, we will be able to perform better and articulate our responses in a much better way as well. This is very important because it adds on to the quality of life and gives us a better outlook. Self care though, comes in various forms. For example doing a fun activity such as reading or going on a hike. Learning a new skill can also be included in the list, and is also a great way to when ready, put those skills to work. This can lead to a better and happier life. Another thing that was very interesting to learn, was the importance of valuing our time. Although there is not a set number for every person, valuing time can be very helpful when managing a business or even at home. We will be able to better manage our money and gauge when we should delegate responsibilities to others in order to make our time count.
