for the past two days I didn't learn anything new, I was reviewing information and working on assignments that I need to redo and ones that I haven't started yet.
today I did an assignment where I had to come up with an idea on how to help better the outcome of children who age out of the foster care system. I also did separate research on how likely is it for an aged out foster child to end up homeless. statistics were high showing 20% of aged out foster kids instantly end up homeless. also it stated about 23000 kids age out every year.
today I learned about how to open an Etsy shop. I plan on building an Etsy shop for my small business so reading about that was very informative. if you don't know, Etsy is like a online market for people who sell things. when selling on Etsy you do not need a business license, you just have to make an account that you'll use to run your shop. once you set up your page you have to add your card information so when someone makes a purchase, you'll receive their payment. You also have to put together your policies, shipping information, etc. use clear images of your items, build an aesthetic using your work.
today I learned what stocks are and the different types of stocks. Stocks are a kind of investment, when you purchase stocks from a company its like you own a piece that company. stock prices go up or down throughout the day, this can sometimes increase stop value. I also learned of the different type of stocks, one being common stocks, which is all in the name, it's the most common one to go with if you are thinking of investing. Another one being preferred stocks, which is often compared to bonds. Preferred stocks are less than common stocks, meaning they won't lose value as fast.
today I learned how to sell art to corporations and how to get your work noticed. corporations use two different types of methods when selecting art for their collection, one being, using their own people to go and buy art from a gallery or the artist themselves. the other method is they hire specialist from other corporations to find art for them. when selling art to corporations you have to be ongoing, call or email the business and ask to speak to a director or art consultant. I also learned that companies could thrive from showing their support for local art.
Today I learned what "digital good" is despite there being many definitions, it seems like virtual products and services in a online store. Digital goods play a role in determining your taxes. in some countries having your product as a digital product is illegal. I also leaned some things online are considered electronic goods, depending on where you are. I learned about intangible assets and how they aren't physical, they benefit your business. intangle assets could be divided into two groups, intellectual property and goodwill. goodwill represents things like strategies and your business reputation. while intellectual property is things like trademarks and agreements.
today at techie youth I read and watched videos on mobile app development. I learned that there are many factors that go into a mobile developers salary. that would include where you live, how much experience you have, education, & certifications. the average4 salary for a mobile app developer anywhere in the US is around 100k, and in India they make the lowest, which is about 4100 per year. I learned that these types of jobs are in high demand, meaning there are always opportunities in this field. also when looking for potential clients, always have referrals, be active on social media, partner up, and make sure to attend events to put your company out there.
today at techie youth I learned how to make money with music licensing. if your song gets played a million times on Spotify, you make 3k but if you license it one time you get 3k, even without waiting for 1million plays. licensing is basically signing your music over to others and they pay you. signing it over is like giving them the right to use it whenever, wherever, for whatever reason; kind of brings publicity to the song, like signing it over to TikTok and people use it as a sound. I also learned that GarageBand is one of the best softwares to make music at home if you have a MacBook. I don't think id ever go into music after reading all this because to make a bomb song and to only get a dollar profit after months, is devastating. of course things take time and you got to start somewhere, that's just not for me. today I learned that making music is not something id want to do.
Today a techie youth I learned how to start a news article, which consists of anecdotes, quotes, statistics, and specific language. You would do these things in order to draw the readers attention and keep them interested, it'd help create a compelling article. I also learned that its good to choose a topic your well versed in or are somewhat interested in. I read about how to get published with a traditional publishing house, you'll have access to things like the New York Times list and you'll save money on publishing your books because your publisher may cover the cost.
I learned that while working remotely you'll need a quiet work environment, great internet connection, a landline phone, an updated computer, and at least know how to use a computer. also, made a portfolio on fiverr to showcase skills. I learned the purpose of video editing is to combine images and sounds to tell a story. Then watched a video on rules of video editing, and read that you need to stay focused and organized when being an editor and working on footage.
On Wednesday, I learned that quality assurance testers can be hired for both new projects and upgrading or fixing legacy existing applications. I learned about selenium and that its used to build testing scripts. I learned about the different types of quality assurance and what requirements are needed to become one.
today I learned the meaning of a product manager, along with what a day to day may look like for. a product manager. I also read about how to become one without any experience and what a company may be looking for in a product manager. I was able to go on Glassdoor and LinkedIn and look at the salary, description, responsibilities, etc. Not all places will hire you without experience, which is common because its not a entry level job like retail. one product manager job wanted 5 years of experience in product designing, which is the minimum they were asking for so I doubt it would be hard to get the job without experience.
Today I learned how to gain donors for a fundraiser. I also learned what an elevator pitch is, its when you have a limited time to share your plan so you have to keep it as short as their ride in the elevator is. You'll know it went well when you receive their card for any form of intact information. I learned how to create my own fundraiser and how to speak to others in order gain support.
today I chose to work on remote recruiter jobs, learning what it is, what are the requirements and the different types. I read about the different expectations of a recruiter and a specialty recruiter. I also dug into different remote/hybrid jobs and what they require you to have and what benefits they offer. When you want to reach certain candidates you need to use specific words and descriptions. also understand wha your clients are looking for in a candidate, your job as a recruiter is to help both parties involved.
Today at techie youth, I learned about the different virtual assistant jobs, the skills they require and how to make money rom home. I also learned how tomato a portfolio and a website which ive never done before today. I read about what being a virtual assistant consists of, including but not limited to making appointments and taking calls.
