today I finished with the Specialized services section and it was pretty interesting. while I have no interest in artistry or modeling, the website design part did peek my interest, as I have some experience of that from school. however, as this is my last week of work for SYEP, I don't plan on further pursuing it on techie youth.
today I started the Specialized services part of the services unit. the section of voice acting did make it seem interesting to me, but the extra work like getting an agent and other similar things was not my speed. I also did the section on selling videos, photos etc., and it really didn't seem like something I could enjoy, let alone profit from.
today I started the providing services unit. its pretty varied in terms of what it offers, and some of the options are enticing, like tutoring for example. the online marketing section was also very important, and seemed like a necessity for most careers. the research section wasn't really interesting in my opinion.
grant writing was never something I considered to be a career, but as a side job to earn a little extra cash, it seems like a viable option. its simple enough and isn't a very time consuming task. it is definitely one of my top considerations for work in the future. on top of that I continued to try and redo old quizzes.
today I did two sections. the customer service one was vary straightforward and easy, and something I think I could handle as a career. the technical writing section however was not something I was interested in, as I would need to take specific information and somehow make it short and simple, which isn't something I think I could do.
today I did the SEO and backlinking section and it was no doubt interesting. it felt like just a marketing tactic rather than about writing as a career, but it would be an important skill if I followed this path as a job. it did feel a bit tedious however, and an almost unnecessary amount of work.
today was all about the two blogging sections. all in all, blogging is something I have a little experience with from a school assignment I once did, and it is something I wouldn't mind pursuing as a career. guest blogging however is not something I think I'll ever do.
today I did the copywriting section and it really peeked my interest. it seemed almost like more about marketing than writing but it was easy to understand and the pay for copywriters was pretty good. not to mention how it can be done mostly online.
today I did the the part of the writing unit that focuses on publishing books. the different ways I could approach it, including getting an agent or self-publishing were interesting, but not my speed. while I enjoy writing, full on books isn't the kind of writing I enjoy, and I don't think I'll follow down the path of an author for my career.
writing as a career choice seemed like a good choice for me, as ranting and putting my thoughts into words is something I do a lot. though I am only at the start of the writing unit, it seems like a good choice as an occupation for the variety of options. I will pour my focus into it as it interest me more than any other unit so far.
I keep getting emails about how I am behind in the amount of work I am supposed to have done by now, however I am not joking when I say that these quizzes, and the video editing final assignment are beyond me. so to not go in circles, next week I plan on moving to new unit. originally I wanted to go to entrepreneurship, but that seemed too complex, and I think writing might be where I go.
I spent the entirety of today focusing on redoing the last of the video editing quizzes and even reviewed the lessons, but I keep failing. at this point, no progress is being made, so I'm considering leaving the unit and moving on to the next one. most likely, if I did that, I would move probably towards the entrepreneurship units.
once again, I am stuck in a situation where in a few quizzes are beyond my ability to pass. that and the final assignment for the video editing unit is one I find would be incredibly difficult, especially considering my performance on the quizzes. I understand the work I have completed isn't entirely where I'm supposed to be, but I cant really find the energy or will to keep doing something if I keep failing at it. there is also the other units, which are all not really something I find interest in.
today was pretty typical as I finished the Video Editing unit, though I haven't done the final assignment, and instead focused on the quizzes for the unit I failed. if I cant pass some small quizzes, I am not confident I can do the final assignment, so that wont happen.
while almost done with the Video Editor unit. today was on both getting clients and building a portfolio to demonstrate to them. the getting clients part seems difficult, as I have to put myself out their across multiple sites. the portfolio part however was easy to grasp, and I have some experience with making them from school.
todays was mostly spent on learning the ins and outs of adobe premiere. the sheer amount of key binds was incredibly confusing, however the rest seemed to be simple enough to learn with practice. I also did some learning on how to find people and clients who need editors, and get hired.
I gave up on passing the old quizzes, and went back to the video editing unit. today was reviewing the various programs for the roles, nd comparing them. some seemed expensive, like DaVinci resolve studio and final cut pro, but they seemed worth the price, with the variety of features. the videos explaining them were also clear and showed how in-depth the editing can go. it almost seems to complicated, which threw my interest off, but I will continue the unit to get the full picture.
I still haven't succeeded in completing some of the quizzes I failed, so I am still doing that, and still failing, but I will still try.
today was entirely taken up by attempting to redo old assignments/quizzes I had failed, after being messaged that I had not completed all of the assignments I started. however, I have been struggling to pass the quizzes I had previously failed, and will most likely have to continue the same work tomorrow to make sure all assignments are completed and all quizzes passed.
todays work consisted mostly of continued video editing unit. a lot on the positioning of the cameras, and how to move them, like just cutting to different perspectives or moving the camera to match the scene. their was also the color gradient stuff, and how the colors of the scene can change the tone and how the viewers interpreted what they see.
today I finished the product manager section with the assignment, which was a bit difficult. I had to watch an older video again and really think to come up with an idea, but I think I did good. I just started the editing section, with the basics of what that role entails.
today I continued on the path of product managing with lessons on strategy, roadmaps and backlogs. it was all very easy to learn as it was just the basic strategies on how to plan for the future if any project or product, and the articles were very helpful.
today I started the unit on being a product manager. though the responsibility of having to decide the path a product takes in the future seems daunting, I consider myself smart and imaginative enough to make sure certain products or ideas can find success in the market.
most of today was learning about the online market and resale value. there was a lot on negotiation, and how to use all the factors of a purchase or sale to get the best price. also a bit on how to find the best items for the cheapest price, which the video was very helpful for
after looking through some of the units, the first one I really did was the extra-curricular on immediate income. it was interesting how many apps there are that can get me money, mostly through surveys that only take few minutes.
today was mostly about how to stay calm and focused in the workplace. a lot about the responsibility's of leadership as well. stuff like the kind of character traits a good leader needs to be successful.
with all the videos and articles, I learned about investing and saving money. like how a checking's account, or other regular bank accounts aren't real investments. also learned about saving by no longer buying certain goods, like restaurant soda and alcohol.
much of what I learned today was focused on how to obtain an online job, and the interview process. for example, I learned how to negotiate for salaries, by not giving ranges and outright stating what I want to be paid. and on interviews, how to properly present myself, with how I talk and organize my workspace.
after moving through some of the first unit, I have learned quite a bit on the basics of online work. for pros, the ability to choose my own schedule can help me pace myself, along with being able to work from anywhere. and the lack of social contact is fine by me being n introvert. but the cons are still there, like the need for self-discipline, which I will most likely struggle with. I also learned about the various payment methods, like a real merchant account or through sites like PayPal.
