Today, I learned about music monetization, different ways to license music, and also read up on different sites that can be used to publish that music. I also tried my hand at creating music using the waveform app, and I spent about 1h-1h 30min just watching tutorials to figure it out. I think I’m either going to have to invest in some kind of midi keyboard, or I'll have to get a different app because this one doesn’t give me the freedom I need without that controller, and I want to complete this assignment- the one to create our own songs- relatively soon.
I learned more about managing my well-being such as my mental and physical health, what kinds of things to prioritize in regard to managing my time, how to regulate my emotions better (which I later put into practice when trying to download music software), and also ways to improve happiness, like meditation.
I also learned a little more about the music industry: how to create beats, use software, a little about music theory, and the many different jobs and ways to earn money in the music industry. Watching videos about people who “made it big” or were successful in the music industry was pretty interesting and inspiring to see.
Today, I learned how to foster relationships with coworkers in a remote workplace environment, how to be productive in such a place, and how to manage expectations with supervisors when working remotely.
I also learned how to manage money. I learned about budgeting, the difference between needs and luxuries, and what types of assets are actually valuable. I learned about liquidity and in what things to invest, and I learned about the value of my time.
Today, I learned proper interview etiquette in a remote setting. I learned some of the different ways to angle your camera, how to set up your lighting, different commonly asked interview questions, and overall just got to practice my interview skills. I also learned how to sell myself to others and how to bargain effectively, and that, in an interview, you have to present yourself as the solution for the problem the company you are applying for is facing. Lastly, I learned the importance of networking and how to go about creating a useful network.
Today at Techie Youth, I learned a lot about the workplace. I learned about working in a remote setting and improving employee morale in an office job. I also learned about the prerequisites needed to get a job, such as cover letters, resumes, and LinkedIn. Lastly, I also learned about how you can get paid. I learned about checking and saving accounts, other types of accounts such as PayPal and square where you can transfer currency, and cryptocurrency: the different types of wallets.
