Today on techie Youth I learned about other services I can provide online and make money off of. I learned about voice acting. There are sites where you can get hired by other people who are seeking voice actors for their personal projects. It's good to have a range and a strong voice. You can also be a model. Most times these are in-person jobs but it is possible to take photos/videos yourself. Most of the time these photos will be about you modeling items that you are promoting. Models advertise the clothes they wear. There is the option to sell stock photos/videos. Stock photos are images that are royalty-free and that anybody can use.
Today on Techie Youth I learned about a business analyst's job and a data analyst's job. A business analyst's job is to basically help provide solutions for companies and help with their performance. Some business analysts are from outside the company and some work for the company and continue to work for them. I could see the benefit to both these types of business analysts. A data analyst's job is to analyze a massive amount of raw data. They make decisions based on raw data and trends they find in it. They are not paying attention to outsider sources just the raw data. They work on a technical level and business analysts are more conceptual.
Today on techie Youth I learned more about writing jobs and finished all the sections. I went back and reviewed some other sections. There are a lot of writing jobs that I didn't realize were jobs. I don't think I have strong writing skills, but I have friends who are so I would definitely show them all these jobs as an option for them. I didn't know guest blogging was something people did to promote themselves but it seems like an efficient way to gain a bigger following and more attention. You can put your work somewhere that already has an audience and expose them to your work.

Today on techie Youth I learned more about writing jobs. There are technical writers who mainly focus on writing informational documents. These documents focus on providing instructions and communicating complex technical information. I immediately think of instructions that come with games and teach the rules and how to play. There's also customer service, which I'm aware of since I've had to contact customer service using email before. Word choice is very important in this job because customers may already be agitated so you do not want to further upset them. I also continued on my website and I'm almost finished with it.
Today on Techie youth I learned about different writing jobs that are available. There are writing jobs where you can transcribe stuff. These jobs require fast typing, high accuracy, and good listening skills. This would involve captioning of videos and translating as well. There are also jobs being a ghostwriter. This job means writing content for someone else but they would have full copyright over it. I personally don't think I would do this because I want control over what I write. Another job is being a guest writer on sites. You can write content for other sites, which is a good way to reach a wider audience.
Today on techie Youth I learned about WordPress and how to use it. I watch tutorials on how to customize the website. I've started working on my niche website idea. I started to design the website and organize the information. My niche website is about glasses. I wear eyeglasses and I'm always looking for unique ones so I figured I could share my findings with people who are also looking for unordinary glasses. It's not fully complete yet. I'm still trying to figure out the best way to organize it.
Today on techie Youth I learned about E-commerce. I have items that I would like to try to sell. I don't want them anymore but they definitely have value. I was only aware of eBay but it's nice to know that there are other sites I can possibly sell on. I learned about the pros and cons of selling on certain websites. eBay and Etsy already have a large consumer base so it could be easier to sell but also there is more competition. I also redid some quizzes today. I brushed up on the video editing section.
Today on techie Youth I learned about data entry. This is a skill that a virtual assistant may need to have. It is also a remote job that people can get. I tested out my typing skills and I don’t think I’d have any problems with the job. I wouldn’t mind doing that as a remote job, but it is also one that people will try to scam you. I also learned about the difference between Britain English and American English. There were a lot of new terms I learned about. I also practiced my transcription skills, they weren't too bad but I could get better at it.
Today on techie Youth I continued to learn about video editing. I learned about premiere pro. I learned how to use it and all the features it had to offer. It offers a lot and I know a lot of people use it. I don’t want to pay for it since I don’t edit all the time. I’ll stick to free editing software for now.

I also started looking at virtual assistant jobs and what comes with that role. I learned more about google calendar and email. I've never used google calendar but it seems not too complicated. 

The traveling info was useful for my personal life. I definitely find the hotel apps useful since I'm always looking for deals. Being a virtual assistant doesn't seem like a terrible job, I think I would have to practice my answering phone skills. I also went back and retook some quizzes
Today on Techie Youth I learned about getting a job as a video editor. I have edited videos before for school projects and my own personal projects. I know basic skills but I definitely want to improve on those skills. I didn't know about all the names for all the different cuts they use in films. Learning about them made me realize how often I see those types of edits in movies. I also learned about free software that I can use. I don't want to pay a lot of money, since I'm a beginner and I do video edits more as a hobby. I hope to start using the free software to learn more and maybe I can be a video edit free lancer
Today on Techie Youth I learned about selling art online. I know some people who do this and I've been wanting to try it out. I know about redbubble, but other art websites I have never heard of them. I will check them out and see if they suit my art and what I want to sell. I think redbubble is the best because I can design something and they handle making it. I would like to personally run my shop and handle shipping but I don't think I'm ready for that and it seems confusing. I also started reading about producing music. I think it could be fun to try to make music. I've though about it before but never knew how to start.
Today on Techie Youth I learned about making a niche website. A niche website is a topic that has a very specific topic. It is something that isn't too common but has a good amount of people who would be interested in it. This way your website can stand out and draw in a crowd. There's a lot about how websites are made that I didn't know about. I learned about how websites should have SSL certificates. This ensures that a website is secure especially if it is asking for personal data. To be able to tell the difference between a secure and unsecured website is by looking to see if it has HTTPS in the URL. This means it uses SSL
Web design is also very important. If the website doesn't look good people won't want to explore it and will likely click off. Finding a good web hosting provider is also important because they will be storing your data.
Today on techie youth I learned more about starting a business. I learned about important steps in planning a business. The most important thing to do is figure out who your business will appeal to and what service/product you want to sell. Working with something you are interested in is recommended since you will most likely be well-versed in it and you will be invested in the project.
 A profit model is a business plan that aims to make the business profitable and viable.
I learned about funding. Finances are very important when it comes to a business because it is why you started a business. You want to make a profit, put in less money, and make more back. Investors are a good way to get funding. Having a good pitch is the best way to get investors to back you, if you can't sell them on the product you likely won't be able to sell to customers either.
Today on Techie Youth I learned more about starting a business. I learned about the difference between a business that is a corporation and one that is a sole proprietor. It seems a corporation might be better. If a business owes a lot of money a sole proprietor means that their own personal assets could be at risk. It also means that you are solely responsible for any debt the company may be in. It seems much more stressful to be a sole proprietor.
I didn't know that when a larger company purchases a smaller one it is called an exit strategy. Starting a business has a lot of complicated steps and comes with a lot of risks. I'm not sure I think starting a business is the best option for me but it was informative to learn about the process and what types of problems can happen.
Today on techie youth I learned about entrepreneurship and Mentors. Entrepreneurship is when someone plans on starting up a business with plans to make a big profit. People usually identify a problem and come up with a solution or plan to solve it. The idea is to make a profit off something people will find very useful and has long-lasting use. Entrepreneurship includes small businesses, startups, and or large companies. It is useful to be versed in many different skills.
Mentors can be really useful because they have prior knowledge and can teach you skills needed for whatever career you may want to have. They can teach you how to avoid mistakes and what is the most important things to do. They can also provide connections since they are already working in the industry you may want to join.
Today on techie youth I learned about Health and stress management. I think these topics are always important to focus on and manage. Being Healthy and having less stress just inherently makes life easier. I think having tips like that in college can help with the workload. The most stressful part of college is the abundance of work and mentally still recovering from a pandemic that is going on.
I think I'll use the suggestion of keeping small lightweight objects that are good for exercise, like grip strength tools or small barbells.
Today on techie youth I learned more about remote work and how to make connections. The tips on how to successfully work from home were helpful. I would use the workday breakdown list so that I can be productive. I think setting timers, removing distractions, and taking mini-breaks will make the working experience better.
I always wondered how people Network and as someone with social anxiety I find stuff like that very intimating, but seeing all the different ways to network eased my nervousness. The fact that there is a website where you can filter out who you are meeting based on interest is very useful and makes finding people who help you and who you can help easier.
There was also useful information on how not to get scammed by a job. I would share this with a friend of mine because she has almost gotten scammed multiple times and I think all those warning signs would be useful.
Today I learned more about the hiring process. It was nice to refresh on ways to get hired for a job and learn new tips. The cover letter parts were very informative. I haven't written many and they are my least favorite thing to do. It was very useful to learn what not to do and the best way to make it eye-catching. I didn't know that using "I" a lot was bad for a cover letter. I'm going to use the websites and videos to write a practice cover letter. I still need a profile photo for LinkedIn, but I want it to look professional so I may ask a friend to take the photo for me. The resource for websites that offer remote jobs is something that I want to save for later because I know it will come in handy when I'm looking for a part-time job.
Today on techie youth I learned about different payment options. I didn't know that people use cryptocurrency as a payment option. I knew people got into cryptocurrency to make a profit, I didn't realize jobs would use it as payment. I personally wouldn't want to use cryptocurrency, just because it seems unreliable. The idea that its value could change at any time doesn't sound good to me.
I also learned that there are sites where instead of getting paid in money people offer a place to stay. I can see it as a way to travel and save money. I checked out the pet sitting website, you do have to pay a fee in order to join the website. It is probably cheaper than paying for a hotel.
I browsed some options of how you can be paid using social media. I checked out how people make money on Instagram and how the algorithm works and how to gain an audience.
I also learned a little bit more about LinkedIn. I had an account but it's not really set up. I'm going to continue the LinkedIn part tomorrow and set up my account more so that it's more professional.
