What I learned today in web development is coding websites, learned that coding is how humans talk to computers. Coding is telling the computer to perform certain actions and how to complete it, which is cool because when you learn to code you can build programs or websites or apps. Some jobs you can get if you know coding which are product manager, computer system analyst, software engineer, data scientist, and computer system administrator which is a lot and all vary in salaries and vary with also having to advance your learning with coding to be able to do other things that has to be performed within the job if required for it. It's interesting that with patience of learning to code and dealing with some of the tedious work, coding can help you land a job with a decent salary especially now that everything is all technology.
I learned about SQL which is short for structured query language which is a programming language that interacts with relational databases and also learned NoSQL which is a class of DBM's that are non-relational and doesn't use SQL. Structured query language is used to store and maintain data in relational databases, it also retrieves or updates any data in the relational database. SQL is also used for accessing, maintaining, and manipulating databases that was already created. Now NoSQL stores its databases in a single data format and doesn't use the SQL since it's best for non-relational databases. Since NoSQL stores its data very unorganized since it's all thrown into single data format I think it'd be difficult to find a specific type of data since you'd have to sit there and look through the format. While SQL maintains being organized and provides great benefits for transactional data.
Today what I learned from web development is about databases. Databases is what used to store data from a website and basically any data that need to be stored on to a computer that's the database job. What databases do is store, maintain, and access any kind of data and from there databases keep information like places, people or even things. Everything that gets collected and stored it gets analyzed and observed since it's all stored within the computer. There's two types of databases which are relational and non-relational databases which both store data but differently. Relational databases would take the data and split it into very small chunks and place them into a table of similar databases. Non-relational databases would take the data and just throw it all into single monolithic record which they don't go as in depth as a relational but this is more of a e-commerce website would do.
I learned about becoming an entrepreneur, where you work towards creating a small business and taking risks while at it. An entrepreneur organizes and operates businesses it can be one or multiple while also taking big risk with their finances. Entrepreneurs work hard for their business to thrive even if it's for a short time and enjoy the rewards from the businesses. They have to continuously work on their business everyday without breaks and the type of work entrepreneurs have to do is making calls to find clients or investors and create social media post in order to create a following and get attention towards the business and it products. Also have to build a following while promoting on social media in order to get those to know you and what you have to offer. Another thing I learned is that you have to believe in the idea you have and start creating a business model and many other things to think if long term that idea is the best idea to keep going with or it could be an idea that should be scrapped and brought back to a thinking board.
What I learned today about becoming an analyst there's two a data and business analyst similar but different at the same time. Becoming a business analyst you gather about the same amount of data as a data analyst except a business analyst takes all that data from a company to improve their finances and efficiency, while the data analyst takes the data and works closely with it to make organizational decisions. Business analyst investigate, analyze, and evaluate any issues that a company might have and come up with solutions to solve those problems and get the company running more efficiently. Business analyst can easily switch in between industries since they can help with non-profit, government, and profit businesses. Data analyst gathers all the data and has to be able to understand and explain every detail of what they're looking at and looking into in order to find the issue and solve it. Data analyst uses the data in order to be used to answer questions and solve problem, unlike the business analyst is strictly business and doesn't spend as much time going into the depth of explaining each and every data presented to them.
What I learned today on web development is there's version control which is a system that's used to manage the files on a website. Version control is a benefit since it helps with holding the history of all changes made to the group of files in which doesn't lose, delete or overwrite anything on it. Also learned about how both GIT and SVN(Subversion) are two versions of control programs dominating the market at the moment, either one is used in nearly every website projects that uses file versioning. Another thing I learned in web development is Wordpress which is the most popular free content management system its used to build and maintain websites. You can host your website or blog on Wordpress and you can do all of that without needing to know about programming which is cool. I learned how to make themes on Wordpress as well, there's some templates that you can use on Wordpress as well to get started on creating a theme.
What I learned about web development is creating a website, but there are many things you have to do first before you create a website and it is to assign the roles to those fit for helping with creating a website. Some roles is web developing are front-end developers, back-end developers, web designers, web developers, quality assurance engineer, system administrator, and many more. Now the job roles each person do it's their responsibility for helping create and run a website. The front-end developers job is to make sure those on the website can interact with it smoothly, while the back-end developers build and maintain the mechanism that perform actions on a website and process data. Web designers job is to create the layout of the website and design how it's gonna look, while the web developers build and maintain the core structure of a website. The quality assurance(QA) engineer job is to create tests on a website before it launches, while the system administrator job is to maintain the servers of a website.
I learned on how to get clients for your own business being a video editor and some things that I learned were 3 methods used by ThisGuyEdit's that he recommended using are cold call method where you email people and submit letters to ads which can be difficult because the people aren't gonna know who you are so the results aren't that great for the cold call method, but it is great working remotely. Another method is the backdoor method in which you offer something completely free towards who you're trying to work with in order to build a relationship and also it's great because then you can both can get to know each other and won't see this as a business transaction relationship. Also you get to show case your work and editing skills so that they can get to know you. Last method is the referral method where you can get introduced to potential clients or job offers through friends and past clients. It's another great method because it's the easiest to find work, but depends heavily on client relationships.
I learned how to edit using different editing softwares, some editing softwares that were introduced to me are Hitfilm Express, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Shotcut, VSDC. All of these would be freemium softwares due to having the option to edit for free and access other things for free, but some access to certain things in the software can only be used if paid for the premium option instead of the free. Some of the free editing software are very popular and used more than the others which are Hitfil Express, Shotcut, and DaVinci Resolve. These are very easy to use, runs on Mac and Pc, offer variety of tools to use, runs smoothly and overall great softwares to use while beginning to learn on becoming a video editor. Shotcut is great because it offers professional color grading, compositing and many other high quality elements. Hitfilm Express is also great being one of the most powerful free editing software and offers a variety of tools to use as well.
I learned on how to get clients by not competing with them and getting them to like you is a better way on getting clients. Also you can build a good relationship with your clients getting to know them and them getting to know you and help build some clientele this way as well. Another way would be networking and possibly partner up with complementary businesses, by that you're connecting with new people and that opens up many opportunities to go off and advertise what you got. Also advertising online and making an account to any social media that'll help boost business where it's necessary, like instagram, Pinterest, twitter, Tumblr, and many more if it does help with promoting.
I learned about how to get started as a video editor, how to create sounds for videos like it can be a simple bottle hit to maybe create a sound for something hollow depending on what kind of bottles will be used to create a sound. Obviously breaking a glass bottle is shattered glass sound effect and a plastic bottle can be a hollow sound depending the surface it's hit on. Also using other objects to create sounds like drums, plates, tubes, some food as well to create sound effects for videos. There's also color grading which is often used in professional videos to give some clips a clean look to it. There's also learning how to edit the videos and learning how to do B-rolls, j+l cuts, and getting the timing right for perfect reaction cuts. J+L cut is a jump cut and long cut, jump cuts is where you can hear an audio before it cuts to the scene of the audio coming from. Long cut is where an audio of a scene carries over to another scene and continues playing as the next scene plays.
I learned on how to start creating a beat just using my own voice along with creating a song with sampled sounds and by creating beats you can sell them if they're catchy enough. Another way to earn money in the music industry is by either becoming a promoter, starting your own record label, or a streaming platform there are other ways to earn money. Being a promoter for an artist or promoter to any event you have to be a hundred percent into getting their name or event out and known, posting on social media talking about them to other high end networks. Creating your own record label you have to know your niche and find artist to sign and represent the label, that itself is time consuming because you can't just sign anyone and you can't just turn everyone away. Earning money on a streaming platform I think it's a great way to get your music heard and have everyone be able to enjoy what you put out but also have to have enough streams to be paid from the song being on the platform.
I learned about creating my own website, but before that can be up and running I have to get a domain and a ssl. In order to get a domain I'd have to purchase it from either GoDaddy, Dynadot, PorkBun Support, etc. I have heard GoDaddy isn't the best to get a domain from due to it being deleted at anytime no warnings at all, up sales for things you don't need for your domain. Dynadot does charge $9 a year for domains which is cool since it's a nice cheap option for a domain also you get a smooth experience using dynadot. Porkbun support is the cheapest option since they work with what you can afford and seems very easy to use. Now the SSL is to protect information if you're gonna be selling anything on your website, it'll protect it from going down. It's important since it'll protect the customers information from being released and have secure online transactions as well.
I learned how to create and screen print, first off it started with the advice of starting screen printing by buying a kit that provides most of the tools you'll need in order to start creating the design on the screen that you're gonna want to print out. You can also do that by creating your own screen with scrap wooden pieces and a mesh kind of material and emulsion paint, but the best option would be to start out with a kit and invest into bettering your materials as you go and profit from what's already being sold. With screen printing you can start a business and make money by selling clothing, tote bags, face mask, and many more. I also learned about bleach drawing as well you can use bleach to create new designs on clothing and it will be there forever because bleach and colored clothing don't mix but can create some amazing new clothing. With bleach drawing you need some bleach, a paintbrush, a design, and whatever will be getting a new design on it. I didn't think there was a possibility on making money with bleach drawing since some materials don't mix very well with bleach and it could possibly end up ruining the piece but again I've been proven wrong.
When it comes to selling digital art you have to first think of what kind of art is gonna be sold, will you be open to admission any work offered to you or will you stick to one main style and it's all you create. Also have to create profiles to Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, and craigslist in order to promote and show off the art work that will be sold and with craigslist you can post an art garage sell ad to show off and sell your work, you can also put in the description box the specific times to when it will start and end. One big thing to keep in mind is that you need to promote your art work very subtle because you don't want to constantly say "buy my art work, buy my art work", it'll get very annoying very fast it'll make those not want to support. So it's best to promote on trending hashtags that follow along with the artwork and build an audience as well in order to catch interest of others.
I learned on how to make ad on Facebook and instagram, first off you have to make a profile towards the business and add both cover and profile pictures that represent your business. After it’s been created, you have to start posting about your brand and products as well. Also have to start building a audience to engage with in order to help grow a online audience.
Today I learned about business models, and how it's the way to sell your digital goods by recurring billing subscriptions and freemium long-tail profit models. Business models is a business main plan to make profit, information about products and expenses is what business model mainly is. Essentially for a business model to be good, the company has to hit the components like having a good description of the products that will be sold and be what customers would like to buy more compared to other companies that could be selling the same product as yours. Some things to keep in mind when creating a business model is the funding towards the product as it brings in more money. Why to keep this in mind, because it's best to keep mind of the gross profit whether it's either gaining or losing.
I learned on how to sell digital goods, email marketing is a good way to sell digital good but in order to sell you have to have a well written email so it doesn't come off as a spam or the email that immediately get sent to trash. When it comes the emails it's best to have it show what you're offering and they can have a look at you work. For example having pop ups that offers free prints if you sign up with your email or even giving a discount on the next purchase if signed up by email is a good way to keep someone wanting to stay updated with your work. Social media is another way to sell your digital goods as well, if you gain enough of an audience and following people are always gonna be excited for the next thing to be dropped.
I learned that you can make money by laser cutting, you can make many designs with laser cutting but need the appropriate software to use in order to create the designs that will be cut out eventually. What is laser cutting, laser cutting is the process of using a laser to cut different materials like it can be used to cut designs for jewelry, medical devices, electronics, etc. When it comes to learning the software for laser cutting, I think it's best to watch YouTube videos to learn because some upload very long and informative videos and will teach you as they go on creating the same project at the same time. So starting by making your own business or working with a business with laser cutting either was seems like a fun way to start earning and learning while at it.
I learned that you can make money by creating things with 3D printing, but there's somethings to take into consideration when creating a business with 3D printing. Somethings to take into consideration when creating a business with 3D printing is the materials needed like the filament your gonna have to buy in order to print anything, the 3D printing machine itself cost a bunch along with what apps will be used to create any of the prints, your time that needs to be invested in learning 3D printing and trying it out yourself, etc. These are some to keep in mind when wanting to start a business with selling 3D printing, another is you have to calculate the cost of each piece and be prepared for some prints to fail as well. Not all prints will print out successfully so trial and error in the beginning to learn on your own is best to way to start out.
I learned about video editing and how you have to learn the mechanics of editing softwares, also that you have to put your own creative twist to editing videos no matter if it's for a real estate, commercial, YouTube, or any other platform that needs their videos edited for them your in charge of making their video interesting from the hours of filming. Another thing to becoming a video editor you'd have to create your own website to get your name out there as a video editor they'd be able to see what work you have done and possible get an offer to a job. A website I've seen that was mentioned was fiver.com you can make a profile and engage with others to get a job editing their videos for them, the only thing that surprised me was that fiverr does take 20 percent of your pay. So say you get paid $320 for editing a video, you'd only receive $256 which is cool.
What I learned today about stocks is that there's no rushing on getting a big win with stocks, it's a bit of a risk. You can gain a decent fund from stocks if the values goes up in it, but usually stocks lose all its value so there's a possibility to losing the money invested in said stock. Also learned that you can actually make money with crypto currency if you go off to learn how to manage and deal with everything that comes with it. If you don't put any work to it then it becomes pocket change and not worth much.
I learned that multitasking doesn't help with time management and that surprised me, because I thought with multitasking you'd be saving time, but instead you're wasting time and lowering your IQ while multitasking. The best way to get better at time management is writing what you've been doing all day with the time stamps on it in order to see how much time was spent doing on said things and be able to plan out for the next day to fill it out with more important things. Now with managing your stress it's really up to you to decide on how your gonna feel for the rest of the day, for example if someone says something that upsets you and make you want to say something towards the person upsetting you instead it's best to ignore them and just hold a smile for 10 seconds in order to for your emotions to somewhat change about how you can react to said person upsetting you to begin with.
Some things I learned today is that scammers really have no filter and really will try to scam charities like the one girl that tried to scam Techie Youth by asking for a fee upfront and the major red flag of settling anything in court in her area only. In order to avoid getting scammed always read any contract and try to verify their connects. Another thing I learned is that it's important to have connects in networking because you'll not only build connects with other but you will also build relationships with them, earn respect, get to know people, and expand your reputation. This is a good way to better your chance at success and maybe get a job out of it.
What I learned today from Techie Youth, is that it’s important for you to keep your public image online very professional and clean especially since the internet is forever, if you’re gonna be applying to jobs it's important to keep your online image free of any illegal or illicit content, hate speeches, bad mouthing past employers and job sites because the employers will be doing a background check on you in order to get to know you to see if you're fit for the job. Keeping a very professional and clean online image can help longterm with landing any future jobs and it can help by letting your future employer know who you are as a person and how well you can get along with others.
What I learned at Techie Youth that making a LinkedIn is important since it represents you online like on how it shares your interests, and who you are as a person. Adding previous jobs and schools can help you get connected to other opportunities as well as finding new jobs, in which helped change my mind on creating a LinkedIn. I was able to create one with ease, but I still need to continue adding more interest to it. Another thing I learned is that working remotely is a better option instead of being in a cubicle since you don't have to pay travel expenses to get to the office, you can spend less time being stress about that commute as well rushing your work in order to get home on time. There's a more efficient work being done working at home since you don't have to travel and the wifi will always be there.
