Continuing yesterday’s information

Wix is a free website builder tool that can be totally managed from the front-end. The main characteristic of this platform is that it comes with drag-and-drop options, so you don’t have to handle anything in the back-end. The design is very intuitive and modern, which can be used by both beginners and advanced.

WordPress.org is the king of free blogging sites. It is a free platform, but you need to build the site mostly by yourself afterward. You also have to host the software yourself. While you can find some free WordPress hosting, a better long-term strategy is to pay a moderate amount for a solid WordPress host.

Medium is a multipurpose platform tackling diverse topics, where anyone with an account can write. Unlike most other free blogging sites, the big advantage of Medium is that your articles will be exposed to a wide audience since the platform is visited by 60 million readers (*) per month (and the number increases every year).

Here’s what’s possible for ~60% of the blogger population who is willing to publish 3X a week of strategic content without fail:

Year 1: $1,000 – $10,000

Year 2: $10,000 – $30,0000

Year 3: $30,000 – $50,000

Year 4: $50,000 – $100,000

Year 5: $100,000 – $250,000

Year 6: $150,000 – $350,000

Year 7: $200,000 – $500,000

Year 8: $300,000 – $600,000

Year 9: $400,000 – $800,000

Year 10: $500,000 – $1,000,000+

Your e-mail list is one of your most precious assets. You own the e-mail list and nothing can take it away from you. With search engines like Google, they might go through an algorithm update and de-rank your posts out of the blue. With your e-mail list, you can always reach your audience.

Guest blogging is great way to expose your written content to more people. Writing content for other people's sites allows your content to be seen by an entirely new audience, and if you have captivated the audience then they may subscribe to your blog to read more of your content. The process is straightforward, find blogs similar to yours that are from bloggers who have a bigger following than you and then propose them to write content for their blog

Copywriting this is what I learned today

Writing copy involves a different skill set than creative writing. Copywriting is geared toward marketing a product or service for a company, so the writing must be persuasive, clear and concise. This can involve writing short advertisements, mass emails, or other forms of raising brand awareness.

In its simplest form, copywriting is the language a business uses to move a consumer closer to a purchase.

Copywriting doesn’t require any formal training. It helps—though it isn’t necessary—to begin with a background in writing, even if it’s just a lifelong enjoyment for storytelling. Often, copywriters come from a background in English, Journalism, Rhetoric, or Communications.

An in-house copywriter works your stereotypical 9-5 office job. They write copy for just one organization day in and day out.

An in-house copywriter works within a company’s marketing department, drafting everything from website copy to the company’s newsletter. As an in-house copywriter, you work with the same team, on the same brand, toward the same goal, for as long as you work for that company.

Agency copywriters may write for several companies within a single week. Businesses hire marketing and advertising agencies to promote their brand. If your agency gets a contract with a new company, you’ll start writing for them. If you want a fast-paced environment working for a variety of businesses, agency work can be a great place to begin your career.

This is a blog — what you are reading right now. It’s just written content (generally meant to instruct or be informational in nature) on a website.

Blogs can be used for any or all of the following purposes:

Personal journals (hobby blogs)

Creative expression

Teaching and coaching others

Selling products

Promoting brands

There are many different kinds but they usually fall into 4 categories:

Lifestyle/Personal Brand Blog

Passion Subject Blog

Broad Niche Blog

Crash-Test-Dummy Blog

The personal blog doesn’t focus on a specific topic or audience. Bloggers write about what interests them: their hobbies, beliefs, daily life, politics, sports, etc., and they attract the types of people that share the same interests. The writer just wants to make a difference and share knowledge or experience.

Authoring books

Why should I choose traditional publishing?

More Prestige:

The prestige associate with traditional publishing is particularly important if you’re writing Literary Fiction or Nonfiction. It’s less important for genres like SciFi and Romance.

Less Money Out of Pocket:

Your publisher will cover most, if not all, the expenses of publishing your book. You will still need to pay for your website and email, but the actual publishing will be covered by the publisher.

Access to Prestigious Awards:

Many awards only consider traditionally published authors to be eligible for the award.

Better Distribution into Brick-and-Mortar Retail:

Traditional publishers make most of their money selling paper books, and indie publishers make most of the money selling ebooks. Most physical bookstores don’t even stock most indie books. More money is spent on paper books even though ebooks are growing. In certain genres, ebooks are dominant.

The cons of traditional publishing

Incredibly slow process. Writing and editing will be the same regardless of how you want to publish. But then it might take you a year or two to get an agent.

Loss of creative control. You give this up when you sign with a publisher. Many authors get titles, covers and marketing angles that they're not happy with.

Low royalty rates. Royalty rates are a percentage of the sale of the book. They're likely to be net, so all the discounts, returns, marketing costs and overheads are taken off the total before your percentage is calculated.

Lack of significant marketing help. Increasingly, authors have to do their own marketing and agents will often seek out authors who have a ‘platform' or at least an email list of readers.

Continuing yesterday’s unit

6 Important Tips for Magazine Article Writing:

1. Make sure to choose a topic that you’re an expert on or you feel interested in.

You’ll most likely to produce high quality magazine articles if you choose topics that are included in your areas of expertise and areas of interest. Publishers always look for articles that contain in-depth information or those that are very authoritative.

2. Choose interesting angles.

You have better chances of getting your articles published if they’re very interesting. Study your chosen topic carefully and figure out the angles that were not yet discussed before and those that will grab your target audience by the throat.

3. Research.

Even if you think that you know your chosen topic inside out, I am sure it wouldn’t hurt if you conduct research. This will surely allow you to get more useful and fresh information that can make your articles more informative and more valuable to the eyes of your target audience.

4. Create an outline.

Next step is to create a structure that you can follow when writing your articles. This must contain the ideas that you’re going to discuss on your introduction, article body, and conclusion. Decide if you’re going to add images, testimonials, and graphics.

5. Write your articles.

Unlike when writing news articles, you’re not required to follow specific structure or format when writing your magazine articles. You can be as creative as you want to be. To hook your readers, I suggest that you write using their language. It will also help if you strive to sound upbeat and warm all the time.

How much does a Magazine Writer make?

As of Aug 2, 2022, the average annual pay for a Magazine Writer in the United States is $71,406 a year.

Just in case you need a simple salary calculator, that works out to be approximately $34.33 an hour. This is the equivalent of $1,373/week or $5,950/month.

New unit writing and content creation

Freelance writing is the practice of writing for money while working on one's own and not being employed by a company or organization. Freelance writers produce whatever written text is needed by their clients, either working from home or in a rented office space.

How Does the Freelance Business Work?

Freelance writers are not only writers; they are also marketing themselves and their skills to potential clients. Freelance writers are often business owners because they must form a business, such as an LLC, to separate their personal finances from their business finances.

What Is a Freelance Writer Tasked With?

Freelance writers compose whatever text their clients need. That is the creative side. But, freelance writers often approach their work like any other business, spending part of their time seeking new business and the other part of their time staying on top of record-keeping.

5 Major Types of Freelance Writing Jobs

Article/Feature writing:

This is perhaps the most common type of writing that comes to mind when people think about freelancing. Many freelancers work on an individual article basis, whether for print or online mediums or a combination of the two.

Magazines/Newspapers:

This is perhaps the most traditional type of freelance writing: contributing articles to print publications like magazines or newspapers.

Websites:

The majority of magazines, journals and news outlets have an online presence these days, where they’ll publish content in addition to their print counterparts.

6 Common Types of Magazine Articles:

1. Longform investigative pieces. These tend to be assiduously researched, contain numerous citations and sources, and have lengthy word counts. Such pieces typically take months to write, edit, and legally vet, but they’re also the types of pieces that win prizes for magazines.

2. Character profiles. These pieces can vary in length from a few hundred words to several thousand. They paint portraits of a wide array of subjects: politicians, athletes, musicians, actors, social activists, authors, and more. Many magazines run these profiles as their cover stories.

3. Commentary. Commentary pieces are more common in magazines that deal with current events. Sports commentary is also common in sports-centric publications.

4. Criticism. These pieces tend to be either reviews or critical commentary. Think of album or film reviews, book reviews, or art and architecture criticism.

5. Humor. Typically found in shorter pieces, humor pieces are found in magazines like The New Yorker and McSweeney’s, and even weekly magazines that accompany newspapers.

6. Fiction. Magazines like Harper’s and The New Yorker are known for publishing short stories or excerpts from longer works.

What kind of content would i edit?

Film + documentary- Making stories shaped with content from smaller production projects.

Commercial- edit music videos, recruitment videos for companies, or advertisement videos about real estate, technology, etc

YouTube+ personal projects- help internet influence rs get their content out with tight deadlines or edit videos for personal use.

$35k-80k range of yearly incomes video editors

The purpose of video editing is to combine images and sounds in a way that helps the brain create meaning in order to capture a feeling or tell a story.

Video editing basics -

Brightness and Contrast- Use this to control the brightness and contrast of an image. Keep in mind that when you adjust the brightness, the contrast level will also change. Also, be aware that exposure is not the same as brightness. Use the exposure tool only when you need to adjust an underexposed or overexposed image.

White Balance- This tool, which is common in professional video and DSLR cameras, allows you to adjust the white balance settings to make the image appear cooler or warmer.

The Three-Way Color Corrector: This tool is used for adjusting the saturation, hue, contrast and brightness of a scene. This corrector works in a single interface, so you don’t have to switch to different functions anymore.

How i drew my artwork on one of techie youths causes they aim to fix!

Unfortunately I was not able to go with this unit because I didn’t feel comfortable with adding my information on the websites but even if I don’t get any credit ill still send you guys the artwork I did for techie youth hope u like it

During my research faze, i was trying to understand and relate to a cause that many people go through and i see everyday living in NYC. The cause that i chose was Helping the homeless. I decided to incorporate my self taught art skills to spread awareness on this matter. Here are the steps i took to complete the drawing.

1. a homeless person all alone surrounded by people.( this might feel weird to say but i thought about it) everyday thousands of people pass by so many homeless people and don't offer a hand.( im a victim of that but i try to do as much as i can) of course a person would feel left out/ alone and disregarded. No one is paying no mind to them.

2.a homeless man sleeping in front of a MacDonald's. i decided to go with this one because this is what i see on the regular.

Furthermore, i decided to contrast the homeless person (dirty) and the McDonald's building which i made (clean and posters of food cheap sales.) yull see once i post the picture on the assignment.

I also drew a bubble of him thinking of food, money and housing to symbolize that even tho theirs a McDonald's right behind him no one offered anything to help him.

Lastly, i put a couple quotes that help the person whose watching feel more motivated to help others anyway they can.

Where to sell your art & connect with potential clients online? this is what i learned today.

I always wanted to learn to draw from a professional but without going to college due to the extra classes I just want to focus on what makes me happy.

Here’s a few of the other services an art agent could potentially provide:

Pay for fine art agents and galleries is generally done in the form of commission, and the amount can vary based on your individual Fine artist.

Fine artists create original works of art. This can be in any medium, such as paint, wood, metal or textiles. What distinguishes the work of fine artists from most other careers on this list is that its purpose is purely to be a work of art, rather than to add visual appeal to something with a functional purpose (such as making a building, clothing item or web page look good). arrangement with your agent. But generally, hiring an artist representative isn’t cheap.

Illustrator;

Illustrators use their painting or drawing skills to create images for products such as books, greetings cards, clothing, posters and animations. They can work with traditional materials to create physical images, or use relevant software packages.

Art Consultants for Artists;

As an artist, your primary concern is the production of art that speaks to your creative drives and allows you to retain your artistic integrity.

An art consultant is, then, more than an agent who can find you a place for completed work. A consultant works alongside an artist to:

Fine Art America

How to sell art online? This is what i learned today.

If you decide to be a part on several platforms at the same time then it is important to have two things in mind

'

Why Consider the Corporate Market?

Having your art in a boardroom, waiting room, or hotel lobby where people are coming and going is a good way to gain exposure to new audiences. These people may not attend a local gallery opening, but while they are stuck in a meeting or waiting for a client, your piece could catch their eye.

Consider an Art Consultant

If you’re new to this process consider first steps. Consider approaching small businesses in your area where you are a customer or client such as a law or accounting firm. Many artists take in their corporate sales through friends and relatives who place their artwork in their places of business through sales or gifts.

Continuation on “Mastering the job interview and getting hired”!

I learn and write down as I go this is to not forget the material I’m learning and I always have references to go back to when taking quizzes !

Good interview objectives include the following

No one cares how you want to use your experiences. The only thing they care about is there own problems . If they see that there problem can be solved by hiring you then you got the job .

Here is what makes hiring people feel good about hiring someone.

The candidate:

A hiring interview is a sales call. Don’t talk or tell. Answer, ask, listen, and sell . You are the salesperson, you are the product, and your customer is the interviewer.

A needs analysis is when you ask questions to find out what the customer needs and wants .

It is everyone’s job in the company to help the company get and keep customers. If you can demonstrate how you will get and keep customers, any good company will hire you.

The goal of your research of your company is to discover ideas , suggestions, observations that could lead to economic improvement!

Great salespeople show something on every sales call. They may show a sample product, examples of relevant work , case histories, and research summaries.

Research may contain :

A good question is one that when answered teaches both the questioner and the responder something .

All great salespeople plan every sales call . Planning also takes time so don’t do it while going to the interview ! Big negative!!

Maintain some eye contact, stay in the discussion, and please don’t pull out a laptop and start key pounding . Use the laptop later and after you get the job.

Barriers for getting the job:

Onboarding is a fundamental part of getting to work at a company as it teaches the new employee all the necessary steps to working at the company.

here are 3 stages of onboarding :

some questions to consider while onboarding;

ONBOARDING PROCESS:

successful remote onboarding checklists:

Virtual employees benefit from a remote onboarding experience that leaves then informed about the company , inspired to work, and united with their distributed team. the ongoing process is crucial to establishing those feelings and avoiding remote isolation and information poverty

Using software helps with onboarding a virtual employee. software can provide information hubs that help new employees communicate with team members or help new employees immediately join recognition programs

a successful remote employee experience should result in satisfied, engaged remote employees. the best experience leads new employees through multiple engagement funnels , including setting goals, meeting lots of people, diving right into work, and learning about the company.

The basics of techie youth and the benefits of having a remote workforce

Throughout my learning journey today at techie youth remote learning I’ve learned the basics of techie and what it has to offer. During the first few hours of the intro to Techie I’ve learned that earning 20 or more credits made you eligible for graduation and if I have more then 25 you’ll pass with honors as well ! Pretty nice ðŸ‘ðŸ¼. Also, I learned many vocabulary words which were the elective units . Let me give u them : Entrepreneurship which I already knew which means creating your own online business, Remote career means a job or profession that can be carry out online instead of in person , and lastly Hybrid income sources which people teach you money based skills that u can use to build your own online business, self sustaining sources of income and broad your view to remote jobs . In addition , there are some benefits for having a remote job . They showed me five and let me discribe them to you.

1. No commute- this means no need to stress in the morning panicking to get to work on time . Remote jobs allows u to be at home full access to your things that make u successful at your job and it saves money on gas!!! Which is a huge positive during these times.

2. Health- being in a office around so many people can be a drag because your such in close distance from everyone and u don’t know if they are ill. remote learning helps with that because it’s just you and your computer .

3. Loyalty- so many perks for having a remote job so why tarnish its goof benefits for bad negativity.

4. Productivity- being home with not as much distractions as a in person is a sign that you’ll get the job done !

5. Mobility- you get to pick your hours and u can do anything you want unlike a office where u have to be proper all the time ! That’s awesome…… there’s more that I learned but that’s for tomorrows summaries .
