July 15th - Providing Services

Today I learned about Providing Services. My major at school is Public Relations and Advertising. I already knew my major was a freelance sort of career. It was cool learning about what else I can do remotely that can help others.

Web Development Roles

Today, I learned about web development. I always knew about how complicated and twisty building the internet and maintaining it was, but i never knew about the roles behind it. There are web developers and designers. They sound similar but they are different in the way that developers create the foundation of the website and designers deal with the visual appearance. Currently, I am learning about web architects, I know the basics currently which is that they make sure anything interactive works and is good to be used.

July 8th: Trading Options

Today I learned about trading options. Trading options are the contracted ability to buy or sell stock for a set price at a later time. I associate this with layaway at Macys where you buy the clothes for a price but receive them later on. Trading options are different from stocks because stocks are company ownership shares that are bought on the spot. Options are risky due to more effort being needed and stocks have a larger loss risk.

Executive Summary!

Today I learned how to create an executive summary for my own business. I personally have never thought of creating a business but this was very interesting to learn about. I think that it was hard for me but at the same time challenged me to learn something that I never would've tried on my own.

My business would be a clothing/accessory website where we sell secondhand items from sellers (regular people not designers) and authenticate them (if needed) and ship them out to buyers. I did not know how to execute and describe this idea. It reminded me of Shark Tank where you have to advertise your plan, convince the sharks to invest and then successfully execute your plan.
