Digital Marketing and How to Measure & Improve Internet Marketing Investment

FRIDAY

Today I learned tips on how to use twitter for new users. I learned that tweets show up in the order they happen. At the top of a Twitter feed, you'll see tweets that are only a second old. New tweets appear at the top, pushing the older ones down.

I learned that twitter is the go to place to watch protests unfold around the world, follow and comment on sports games or TV shows as they happen, and make fun of celebrity missteps right when the news is hot. I learned that tweets can contain links, photos, GIFs, or videos. But if you're tweeting text, you're limited to 280 characters. In order to make a twitter account first you need to go to twitter.com, then you need to enter in your phone number, then you pick a password, choose your interests, then pick an avatar and write your bio.

For writing a tweet there is a 280 character max. That means having to tweet multiple times to make a complex point. I learned that boiling down your thoughts to a couple of lines really just makes your statement stronger, faster to read, and more shareable. Next, If you want to add a photo, a video, a poll, or a gif, you can do so in the lower bar of the "Compose new Tweet" box. Adding a photo does not use up any of your 280 characters, and you can add up to four photos or a video less than 2:20 in length and 500mb in size.

THURSDAY

Today I learned how to sell products on instagram. I learned that There is no one-size-fits-all approach to selling your products on Instagram and some strategies make more sense than others depending on your target audience and what you’re selling. One way to sell is product photos and promotions. Publishing product photos is an easy way to reach your followers and digital window-shoppers.

Another way is user-generated content. Many brands make user-generated content s cornerstone of their instagram social selling strategies. I learned that customer photos go hand in hand with high engagement rates and let your customers serve as your best billboards. Also given how eager consumers are to share product photos, scoring user-generated content is often just a matter of asking. User-generated content allows your customers to see what your products look like in action. This also serves as a creative break from traditional planned posts and allows you to show your products from different angles, so to speak.

The last way I learned how to sell through instagram is influencer marketing. I learned that not all selling on instagram how to happen from your account. Influencer marketing has exploded as a way for brands to get their products in front of their target audience through a more compelling and relatable manner. I learned that you should partner with someone with a highly engaged audience to raise awareness for your brand and potentially uncover new customers. Influencer promotions are effective often because they don’t feel as “salesy.” And I learned influencers typically have highly engaged audiences whose reach might be greater than your brand’s own account.

WEDNESDAY

Today I learned the basics to digital marketing and how to measure & improve internet marketing investment. I learned that your digital marketing’s ROI is a measurement of your online marketing campaign’s profits or losses, which you calculate with the following formula: (net profit / total digital marketing costs) x 100.

I also learned that to determine your net profit, you simply subtract your costs from your revenue. You then divide your net profit by your total costs. To make that number a percentage, multiply that number by 100. An alternative to using a percentage is expressing your ROI as a ratio. To do this, divide your net profit by your cost. That number is your ratio compared to 1. So, for the above scenario, you would divide $25,000 by $5000 to get 5. Your ROI ratio would be 5:1, or $5 for every $1 spent.

I learned what each part of the ratio means. The number of leads is A lead is someone who expresses interest in your brand, product, or service, making them a potential customer. The lead-to-customer rate is the percentage of leads who became customers. The average order value is your average order value is the average amount customers pay for an order. Determining the average helps you account for discounts and varying order sizes. And finally, the cost for marketing is the total amount you spent on your digital marketing campaign. It includes costs such as those of marketing services, ads, tools, and employee salaries.

TUESDAY

Today I learned about ways to increase traffic to your website. I learned ways to drive traffic to your website with content. One way is to have a buisness blog. Your business needs a blog where you can regularly publish useful, long-form content on your site. I learned companies who blog get 97% more links to their websites, businesses that blog get 55% more website visitors than businesses that don’t, and marketers with blogs are 13 times more likely to generate positive ROI.

Another way is to focus on evergreen topics. I learned how to create content around topics that will always be of interest to your audience. The evrgreen posts will accumulate traffic and links over time, especially if you refresh it regularly.

A third way I learned is to write irresistible headlines. Headlines are one of the most important parts of your content. I learned studies have shown effective blog headlines to drive 500% more traffic. Without a compelling headline, even the most comprehensive blog post will go unread.

You can also invite others to guest blog on your site. I learned not only can guest authors diversify your topics and perspectives, but they’ll want to share the article with their network and link to it on their site, which could bring new readers to yours. I also learned to be sure that you only post high-quality, original content without spammy links and a standard set of guest posting guidelines can help with this and keep your content on brand.

Next enter the URL of the website you want visitors to go to. Then click on insert and save. And finally preview your webpage to test the link.

Domain Names and Digital Trading Cards

Today I learned how much it costs for a domain name and its pricing breakdown. New domain names can cost anywhere between $10-$20 dollars and a preregistered domain will be more expensive. Price differences depend on which registrar you buy your domain name from, and what kind of domain you’re buying. I also learned that its worth shopping around to find the best fit and cheapest price. I learned about a domain name registrar and how domain names are purchased through it. Next I learned that the two most common types of domains are top-level domains called TLDs and country cod top-level domains called ccTLDs. The difference between the two is that TLDs are well-known domain name extensions, like .com, .net, and .edu. ccTLDs are country-specific domain name extensions, such as .uk or .fr.

I also learned about advertising metrics that digital marketers need to be tracking and why its necessary. I learned without an established plan to monitor ad campaign results, you can’t realistically prove your ads are performing well. Things that need to be tracked are the total site traffic, bounce rate, page value, impressions, cpm (cost-per-thousand impressions), clicks, cpc (cost-per-click) and conversions.

Selling Digital Goods

Today I learned about selling digital goods online. Digital goods can also be known as:

With digital goods, whatever you pay for, you receive it over the internet. Digital goods can also be sold worldwide. Some examples of digital goods are e-books, images, movies, videos, downloadable and streaming music.

Next, I learned the most profitable digital products to sell. With shopify, it is easy to create an online store to sell your products. The best digital good to sell is educational products. You can leverage an existing reputation as an expert to garner attention for your downloadable products to sell online or, if you’re starting from scratch, you can create and give away free content to generate interest and leads for your paid digital products. The second best digital good to sell is licenses to use digital assets. By offering licenses to individuals and businesses, you can charge for the use of your photos, videos, music, software, and similar to digital products in your own store and through online marketplaces, such as stock photo sites.

Another way to sell digital goods is through membership sites. Instead of focusing on how to sell digital products individually, you can bundle them together and lock them behind a paid subscription to generate recurring revenue. Finally, you can also sell music or art. A musician can sell ringtones of their best songs alongside their merch. Or a cartoonist could turn their art into printables, phone wallpapers, or print-on-demand products. A filmmaker can sell their movies online.

Option and Commodity Trading Risks

Today I learned the risks to investing in options. If you buy a call, you are buying the right to purchase the stock at a specific price. If you buy a put, you are buying the right to sell a stock at a specific price. If you sell a call, you are selling the right to purchase to someone else. If you sell a put, you are selling the right to sell to someone else. I also learned that there is a way to control options risks. Determining the appropriate amount of money to invest in an options position allows the investor to unlock the power of leverage. The key is maintaining balance in the total risk is to run a series of "what if" scenarios, using risk tolerance as your guide.

Next, I learned the risks of commodities. Commodities are the most volatile asset class; stocks, bonds, and currencies tend to have lower variance and more liquidity than commodities. Another risk is that it is not unusual for the price of a raw material to halve, double, triple, or more over a very short period of time.

Tue. Aug. 2, 2022

Commodities and Commodity Index

Today I learned more about options trading and also learned about commodity trading. A commodity is a basic good used in commerce that is interchangeable with other goods of the same type. I learned that these are most often used as inputs in the production of other goods or services. While a product is the finished goods sold to consumers, a commodity is the raw material used to manufacture finished goods. Investors and traders can buy and sell commodities directly in the cash market or via derivatives such as futures and options. I also learned that hard commodities refer to energy and metals products while soft commodities are often agricultural goods.

Next, I learned about commodity index. A commodity index is an index that tracks the price and returns on a basket of commodities. The value of these indexes fluctuates based on their underlying commodities. Commodity indexes vary in the way they are weighted and the commodities that they are composed of.

Option Trading

Today at techie youth i learned what an option was and how it differs from stocks. An option is a financial instrument that is based on the value of underlying securities such as stocks. Options give buyers the right, but not the obligation, to buy or sell an underlying asset at an agreed-upon price and date. There are two types of options that form the basis for a wide range of option strategies designed for hedging, income, or speculation. A call option gives the holder the right, but not the obligation, to buy the underlying security at the strike price on or before expiration. This option will therefore become more valuable as the underlying security rises in price. A put option gives the holder the right, but not the obligation, to instead sell the underlying stock at the strike price on or before expiration.

Investing, Bitcoin, and Trading

FRIDAY

A market order is an order to buy or sell a security immediately. This order will guarantee that the order will be executed but doesn't guarantee the price. A limit order is an order to buy or sell a security at a specific price or better. A buy limit order can only be executed at the limit price or lower, and a sell limit order can only be executed at the limit price or higher. A stop order or a stop-loss order is an order to buy or sell a stock once the price of the stock reaches the specified price, know as the stop price. And finally a buy stop order is enterd at a stop price above the current market price. It is usually used by investors to limit a loss or protect a profit on a stock that they have sold short.

Making Sales online and how to price products

Today I learned the many different websites where you could sell any of your products such as ebay, shopify, and etsy. I learned the pros and cons of using these websites. I also learned the steps to pricing a product. First you must find a base price by getting to know common pricing strategies in your industry. You can do this by using cost-plus pricing where you take the cost of making the product and add it to the markup percent to find your price. You can also use market-oriented pricing where the seller sets the price higher or lower than their competitors depending on how well their own product matches up. Finally the last way to find a base price is by using dynamic pricing. This is a strategy in which businesses set flexible prices for a product or service based on current market demands.

I also learned about what to do after you make a sale. First you must make sure the payment went through. Then you need to find the buyers address to see where to send the product. Next you purchase a shipping label and send it through the mail. Finally you should share the tracking info with the buyer.

Ways to Becoming a Better Leader

Today I learned the best ways to becoming a better leader. First you have to be an empathetic leader. Usually, many leaders have been promoted to their positions based on past performance or because of their industry credentials, but they have little or no leadership training. This results in a heavy-handed, order-giving manager with unclear expectations and little empathy for his or her employees. This also results in low productivity and morale. Next, you should be a good listener. Being a good listener goes hand in hand with empathy. A good leader values the input of his or her team members, wants to know what makes them tick, and helps them set and achieve career goals. When being a leader at work you should be a model for embracing change. Learning how to lead through change, then, is a critical skill that leaders must have, whether it’s adopting new policies and procedures, introducing a new business model, or adapting to a new CEO’s leadership style. Effective leaders model a positive and professional response to change and set the standard for how to move forward. I also learned that you should communicate realistic and clear expectations and should always learn how to handle failure. If you want to know how to be a great leader, explore with your team what went wrong and how things could have been done differently to ensure success. Take responsibility for any part you played in the missed goal. Together, identify things that can be improved going forward. And hold employees accountable as needed. Lastly, you should always continue learning. There’s no perfect leader, and given that change is constant, it’s important that leaders keep improving their skills.

Then, if you are planning on manufacturing products, include a Products and Services section in the summary as well. You should provide as much information as possible in a concise, organized document.

Next, I learned ways to check if your business name is available. I learned that you cant name your business the same as another one so you must check the internet, social media and check a domain name search to make sure it isn't being used.

Some tips for creating a slogan is keeping it short and simple, being consistent, focusing on what makes your brand different, getting input and considering your target audience.

After this I learned about mission statements. A mission statement is an action-based statement that declares the purpose of an organization and how they serve their customers. It can sometimes include a description of the company, what it does, and its objectives. I learned that a mission statement provides perfect clarity behind the “what,” the “who,” and the “why,” of your company. The best mission statements are guidelines by which a company operates and everything you do as a company should work toward your mission statement. Mission statements are usually short and stay between one to three sentences.

Failure ends up being valuable to investors since people are more likely to learn from their mistakes.

I also learned about digital nomads. Digital nomads are people who travel to many different places while working remotely. There are many benefits to being a digital nomad such as you'll be more productive, you'll have more breakthrough ideas and you'll be more adaptable. In order to become a digital nomad you must get rid of unnecessary expenses, make sure you have income you can always rely on, have travel health insurance, and set yourself up for financial success. When living as a digital nomad you must have a very concrete budget and always follow it no matter what. You must also plan for the worst scenario since many things can go wrong while traveling or working.
