Today I am approaching the final assignment for the Writing unit. I've learned a lot about different career paths that are possible with writing, what they require and what it's like writing in different ways for different purposes. It has given me a lot of thought about if writing is something I want to peruse and if so, what kind of writing would I choose. I hope to put my writing skills to the test with the final assignment.
Today with Techie Youth I was finally able to start my first elective unit! I chose Writing as it is something I enjoy and would like to improve on. I was able to complete the Magazines and Journals and Books, published and self-published sub-units today which had lots of information about the respective topics within videos.
Today with Techie Youth I spent a lot of time reviewing information in beginning a startup in preparation for my final assignment in the Entrepreneurship & Leadership course. I figured out a business idea I both enjoyed and could find a lot of information about. I've noted things I learned from the information given in the course as well as done my own research to figure out numbers and create a well written executive summary!
Today with Techie Youth I learned more about what is necessary to start a business. Contingency Planning, finding the correct Cofounder, Partnerships, making sure you have an exit strategy, planning an executive summary, Branding and launching your first business!
Today with Techie Youth I had to look back at some previous units I didn't score too well on for the tests. I was able to go back to the content and redo the tests and get a passing grade! I also completed the Improving Quality of Life assignment to help me better understand what I want to improve on.
Today with Techie Youth I completed the sub-units Business Models, Profit Models, and Customer & Market in the Entrepreneurship & Business Leadership unit. I learned a lot about why it is important to know these three things before starting your business so your business has a good shot at succeeding. Business Models are what I would call the fundamentals of your personal business. It is the basic rules that help you predict whether or not your idea / business will be a success. It's helpful especially to new entrepreneurs mitigate the damage from the risks they take when starting new businesses. Profit Models is a term used to describe specifically how your business is making money. There are tons of different profit models and we commonly see them everywhere, like Subscription Models, Renting Models, even Freemium Models. They are simply solid strategies of generating income for your business. Lastly Customer & Market is particularly a point that needs to be looked into to truly determine how profitable your business can be. Knowing the Market from your competitors allows you to not only have a glimpse to see if your idea is actually profitable, but also to determine how profitable it can be. You want to use your competitors to your advantage as they can give you a lot of information on where you should be pricing, the industry standard for your product, and coming up with ideas that are unique to your own business, so you can have a competitive advantage against you're business rivals.
Today I finished up and completed Intro to Earning Money. I had a lot of reviewing and a few tests to complete after numbers of informative videos.
This was my second day using Techie Youth! Today I continued with the Introduction to Earning Money Online. As there were a lot of videos I was able to take a lot of information and perspectives in about the things I was learning. I learned a lot about what makes a good resume and cover letter by various professionals and then had a crack at them myself afterwards, I think they turned out pretty good! I also learned a lot about job interviews, including how they're going to go, what I need to prepare for, what questions are going to be asked and what questions I need to ask. I would say this was the most helpful thing I learned today because as someone who has never had a job interview before I was very confused on what I needed to focus on. Now I feel more prepared and confident when the time comes for that!
Today was my first day with Techie Youth and I began with the Introduction to Earning Money Online. I got to better understand who and what Techie Youth is and what they're trying to accomplish for me. I learned why remote learning is something to consider and how it can be desirable to many people, especially those who want to be their own leaders. Additionally I learned the perks (and negatives) to working remotely, as well as the basic fundamentals and things needed to begin working remotely. I also learned about ways of getting paid remotely which includes services like Square, Paypal, Cryptocurrencies as well different banks I can consider opening accounts with.
