Today I was able to put a piece of art on sale on Etsy and got to go through the process of setting up a store with Etsy. It wasn’t a difficult process for me because I knew where my information was that was requested. I was also able to start learning about video editing and about the different types of cuts that video editors do and even how they use video editing to make money. Most of the ones I saw were freelancers so they worked on their own time and had leeway for how much work to do and how much they earn. I learned what L and J cuts are along with some of basic rules of editing.
today I was able to see different sites to sell art and also how to connect with other artists and what the sites offer artists. I think that Redbubble would be very helpful because they ensure that the art piece goes straight to the buyer and they handle the customer service. and it also adjusts the price so that it can cover the shipping and handling prices so that you can make some profit and also it is free to sign up. The sites that connect artists are like small communities that one can join to gain exposure by meeting others and promoting their own work. I also got to see how galleries are with their artists and learned about common misconceptions that there are with them.
today I was able to receive feedback on an executive summary that I created for a business. I reviewed the executive summary unit so that I was sure to improve my performance on the assignment. I was able to identify who my key executives would be and form a plan for how to go about starting the business and what would be necessary for it to succeed. I then was able to continue to learn about how to sell art online on more platforms like Facebook, Pinterest and Instagram so that customers could be directed easily to purchase my products. I was also able to learn different strategies when it comes to selling art and who is involved in the process.
today I was able to create a Fiverr portfolio so that people are able to hire me for services. I was able to write about myself and include my skills but wasn’t able to link my Linkedin account because it prevents URLs from being added. I was able to learn a lot about how to sell art online. from making a website to information about different platforms to sell my art like Craigslist, Etsy and more. It was strongly advised to have a website to show customers that I am legit and built credibility with those considering purchasing from me.
today I was able to learn about Wordpress and it’s different aspects ranging from how to install it to uploading images and how to set themes. With the Wordpress unit I am able to learn about the difference between their two websites and the benefits of each as well as their cons. I am becoming more familiar with Wordpress.
today I was able to learn more about public relations and what it deals with. About their importance, effectiveness, and even was able to look at how to go about making one. I also learned about advertisement campaigns, like what managing them includes. It involves being able to reach the target audience, tracking the interactions, and figuring out where it would be best to place them in order to reach who we intend it to reach. an example that was given was that if the ad is shown on a social media platform like TikTok then it would best reach the youth since it is such a popular app for their age group. I learned about modeling scams and how to both identify and avoid them. I think this is really helpful because there are people who would do what someone claiming to be an agency says to do such as paying a deposit or having to use their staff for photoshoots. I saw important questions to ask if I want to be sure that the agency is legitimate.
Today I was able to learn about the process of becoming a tutor and about how I would be able to earn more with certain qualifications. I familiarized myself with Zoom in a way of not being the student but the one who teaches. I learned how to use things like recording my screen so that others can review. I also learned about the 20+ different types of advertisements and which audience they are meant to reach. I had already known some were specifically targeted for some people to catch their attention. I also learned about the role of a digital marketer and what responsibilities they have as well as the skills they are required to have. I also learned about Data entry jobs and how to avoid the ones that are scam. I was able to even practice data entry and determine if I have a fast typing skill that could be useful with data entry.
today I learned about product planning and a bit more about customer satisfaction. I learned how effective different ways of surveying are. I wasn’t shocked to learn that in person interviews give the most insight about the customer and allows for more conversation to flow and the customer would speak more freely when they don’t feel like its an interview. I also learned about roadmaps backlogs, how to go about creating one and the key aspects of them.
one of the things that I was able to learn today was project management. I was able to become familiar with the process of how they develop projects from beginning all the way down to the launch and what their daily lives is like from different perspectives. I also began learning about the importance of feedback when it came to customers so that they can improve the projects in a way that will not benefit them, but benefits the customers. today I also learned about how to attain funds for a business venture. One of the tips I received was to not be like other recipients because the angel investors know the goal that we have so if I am able to form a connection with them about a mutual interest then it could help me stand out among others.
today I was able to learn more about branding myself and even get started on finding a slogan for my potential business. branding is important because you can connect with customers and make them into consistent customers. I learned how to make a logo and a website for my business. Having a brand will help others identify you from other businesses. I learned the difference between business entity formalities such as sole proprietors, partnerships, and corporations. sole proprietors become responsible with their own finances so if the company was to be sued he would be affected directly. A partnership is when multiple people are held responsible if the company was sued. But then with a corporation the company’s finances would be affected but not the CEO or anyone specifically. I also learned what an Employer Identification Number is.
today I was able to discover many market places to sell my product if I were to create one. I was shown many options and a couple were even free but with some percentage taken off from my sales. Along with finding a marketplace, I was also shown how to create a website and saw that it is possible to change literally everything. I think its gonna take some time for me to learn to make a website because there are many aspects to decide on looks and also decide what I want to be included. Knowing to make a website could be so useful because you’re able to market items and be in complete control and decide the aesthetic you want to have.
today I was able to complete an executive summary for a potential business. I was able to think about each aspect of the job and how I will get it done. being able to think about everything that has to be done for the business made me see how it is actually possible and could succeed if I stick to the plan that I made and am consistent. I was also introduced to using a screen to make products such as T-shirts and saw the entire process from beginning to end. I learned that there are different outcomes depending on the color and material of the shirts. I was informed on how it would be better to start off locally if I were to sell the products and not like bigger companies until I know what quality i want to do. I agree how it would be best to start off with low cost so that I can get to know the difference between materials and needs to meet the demand. I was also able to see how to start a clothing line and make my own designs with bleach drawing. Bleach drawing is something that I can see myself trying even though i'm not very good at art but it would be nice to be able to have my own designs
Today I learned more functions about Inkscape and GIMP. I was able to see functions such as the perspective tool, foreground select tool, and even an airbrush tool. I feel that the airbrush too would be very useful for when it comes to editing an image and help even the complexion and even contour the face if needed. If I were to market a business and things didn’t look how the vision was supposed to then these tools would definitely work. I learned things that vary from logos to editing actual images with real places and people.
Today I learned about salvaging, upcycling, and repurposing items. I was able to see people take objects and reuse them to make something else. Like how a man had many pieces of left over wood and was able to put them together with other scraps that he had and made a lamp, which he can profit off of since he has them on Etsy for sale. Along with seeing someone actually do it, I received the written instructions on what to do if I was to do this myself. I also saw the steps on how to make a pocket laser engraver which I thought was really cool because there is a market for customized products and with the laser a person would be able to make many things with their own designs or with whatever the customer requests. It was overall very interesting how there are so many things that I had never even considered to be something that people do like a VHS video toaster. I then reviewed how to use some digital art tools like fill color and shape tools.
Overall today, I learned many things about electricity and how it works. somethings I learned were how to calculate currents, the difference kinds on currents, how electricity travels, and negative and positive voltage. Before today, whenever I used batteries I just thought I had to match the plus and minus signs with its identical sign but now I know why it is that way. And how there are direct and alternative currents. Direct currents are most popular with batteries and alternative currents are in outlets/plugs where wires are involved.
Today I was introduced to more softwares for laser cutting like AutoCad, Inkscape, LibreCad, and CorelDraw. In each of these I was able to see the basic functions like how to use lines and create curves to create basic objects. I then began learning about what robotic products are and how they can be sold to make money. I saw many examples of products that people have previously made to see if I can think of something that I myself can make and profit off of. I began looking at the steps needed to be taken if I was to begin making robotic products and what tools would help me out during the process.
I learned how to use Adobe Illustrator. I learned techniques to create things, like how to use the brushes and create custom shapes for logos and even prints like planners. Something that I believe will be very useful is that I can have a drawing and then use Illustrator to find lines abs shapes that fit over the drawing to uses as a template. Being able to use a template would make things easier for designs. I also saw how the creator switched between tools to change many aspects of a logo . It was useful how he used the copy and paste tool in order to make the process easier so that you don’t have to make the lines over and over. I began learning how to use the liquify tools that Illustrator has.
today I was able to see more complex 3D structures be designed on Blender. I got to see the person teaching move at a faster pace and how the whole process from start to finish on how the 3D models are made. I was also introduced to other softwares like Autodesk Meshmixer that also worked with 3D models and how they were different with features like bending, pinching and pulling the models as if they were clay online. and even how to join two different pieces together with SolidWorks.
today I learned about how to plan to sell crafts online like 3D Prints. I was introduced to Tinkercad and Blender and was able to learn some of the basics when it comes to how to design 3D printed products. For example, how to how to clear a scene and how to hide a scene. And also how to create a hole in items to be printed. With the Blender videos I got to see how to develop a 3D scene with 2D tools and started learning how to do some of the things on my own.
today I was introduced to the idea of selling products online. There are many items that can be sold digitally like tutorials, e-books, and even art and more. I learned how wide the market is and how so many things are sold online for convenience. I also learned how to use Udemy in order to set up a course if I were to offer to teach people something. I saw all the steps from showing what I will teach and how to welcome the students and how to set up the message for when they complete the lesson. I might use this down the line if I feel confident in how I learned something on my own so that I can then share it with others. I also learned how a webinar works in terms of how to set it up, which sites would work best for what I want to do and many free alternatives like zoom and google meet.
Today i was able to see what is like in the life of a CEO and an Entrepreneur. I noticed that they had to have many meetings to keep things running smoothly. I learned that the first steps of starting a business are having an executive summary and a team. I learned many other skills needed in order to know how to have a successful business. Such as how to determine the success of my business and how to find my target audience. If I am able to market my product or service to the right audience I would have a higher chance at being successful. I have to be able to have a product or service that people need and makes things easier for them. Customers would most likely not purchase from my business if I am offering something that they don’t need. I have to do something that they need and provide it better than they can get it somewhere else. To address the pains of the people in order to create better business with more value.
today I learned skills that every entrepreneur should have and what makes someone an entrepreneur. I learned how to present myself in a professional setting as a leader and how to conduct myself when speaking to others especially during a presentation. A part that I will definitely use is when I saw how to end a presentation which I had struggled with in the past so now I know some ways that successful people usually end their presentations/speeches. I also learned that soft skills deals with people skills that are transferable to other jobs while hard skills are skills that are learned through schooling and training.
I learned how to present myself as a leader. In order to be heard I have to speak up. It was also noted that having habits like fidgeting may make you seem nervous and not confident so it’d be ideal to not fidget and to sit upright to come off as a good leader. part of being a good leader is being able to stay calm under pressure and keep my cool. It may come off as weak if I am showing how stressed I am and how much pressure I am in. I know it is okay to be stressed since it is natural but I have to keep my cool on the outside while this is happening. I also learned that part of finding a mentor is taking the initiative and doing it. I realized that I cannot just wait for a mentor to show up and show me how to improve but to already start somewhere. I have to be willing to follow my mentors advice and put the plan in motion after receiving the advice.
today i learned ways in which people were able to save 100% of their income. they were able to do this by investing or having multiple sources of passive income in order to be able to pay for all their living expenses while also being able to set aside money to save. it takes lots of self control so that you don’t feel tempted to spend your money. i also learned how to budget and how to save money with everyday essentials. for example, when it comes to buying a car, there is no need to lease an expensive car and continue paying it off for a long time. instead i could get a cheap car that gets the job done and save thousands of dollars. I also learned new habits to help me be more productive and make more money.
Something that I learned today was how to network and how to figure out who could be a good person to connect with. I had previously wondered how to start a conversation with someone I wanted to network with and in the videos and articles today I was given tips on how to make strong connections. I also started to learn about how to provide services that people don’t want to do themselves and I think theres a large market for that right now so it will be very useful.
something I learned today was how to conduct myself if I was in a remote job or doing interviews remotely. I learned how to be professional without being in an office. There are many factors to how to communicate over video calls. I learned about how to dress, tips to help appearance, how to maintain eye contact with whom ever I am speaking with and also how to get to know people who I work with if I work remotely so that the conversations that usually happen by the water cooler can still happen and establish a relationship so that communication can become easier. i learned to be a successful remote worker by being made aware how to work with others while not being at the same place successfully.
Today I learned how to make a short but effective cover letter for when I apply to jobs. I had previously had a hard time on what I should include but with what I learned today I was able to create one! I was presented with sample ones and was even given tips on what to include if I don’t have much experience. I also learned some salary negotiating tips so that I am able to work for a good pay and even to get my moneys worth when I am buying something.
something I learned today is that I can start making money immediately. In the video “10 Remote Jobs for Beginners (2022)” I was able to see a website where people are hiring for many things even for proof reading. Though it may take a while to make a lot of money, it is still income and is a start. I also learned about the downsides of working remotely in the video titled “Is Remote Work Right For You”. Though you would have the freedom to work on your own time you may end up over working yourself because you won’t know when to stop but on the other hand you may feel like you have too much freedom and not do enough work. I also learned how to implement “pay now” buttons on custom websites if I was to have a business and was given some ideas on which companies I can use to collect payment. I also learned how to connect my bank account to the companies, like Paypal and Zelle, so that I can receive and send money.
